Every project varies according to its geometry, its material, its technology and its end use. The aim is to gauge a ballpark figure, without claiming the precision of a proper quote.
5 parameters that determine the price
- Material volume: the bulkier the part, the more filament and time it takes
- Technology: FDM (economical, functional) versus SLA (more precise, more expensive)
- Machine time: from a few dozen minutes to dozens of hours (electricity, maintenance)
- Geometric complexity: supports, orientations, post-processing
- Design: the underestimated factor — modelling, adaptation and testing often account for most of the cost
